About

谢谢光临. Thanks for stopping by at http://hanyu.com!

My English name is Brian King and my Chinese name is 金伯恩 Jīn bóēn. I was born on the Isle of Wight, an island off the south coast of England. I have since lived in Canada, the US, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and South Korea. I currently live in Toronto.

Over the past 20 years or so I have been a teacher, researcher and academic and have taught Chinese, English and Linguistics in North America and Asia. I received my BA and MA in Linguistics from the University of Ottawa and Fu Jen University, and my PhD in Chinese Linguistics from Ohio State University.

One of my interests is applying technology to language education. You can find some of my latest (and a bit weird!) experiments made with CrazyTalk on this site and also on YouTube.
